Going to work by bike and getting money for it!!
Now in Spain, a wonderful idea is coming! Getting some extra earnings just for going to work by bike! The first country where the idea came up was Belgium, followed by France in 2014 by paying their workers 25 cents per km. The measure was a complete success that in a short period of time the amount of people in using the bike on its way to work, doubled, so the government had to include this point on its energetic policy.
Now the measure is arriving in Spain, but it has been not from the government but a private initiative from Ingeteam, a Basque group of business. They are going to pay their workers an euro extra a day just to encourage them to use the bike to go to work or to those who use the bike for working reasons. This measure will start in Albacete, a small city almost flat in the centre of Spain, perfect for the bike thanks to its safety and its great amount of bike paths which make it perfect for a ride.
We are delighted, and we are sure that its a matter of time that many other companies will join this new movement and the use of the bike in the cities will be more common. This will improve the quality of the air, the traffic, the health of the workers and the work atmosphere.
Of course, there’s always pros and cons.. as the temperature in Summer in Albacete is burning, as almost in every Spanish city (but specially in Albacete, trust me, I know it in July is unbearable).
Then, how can we reach the work with no sweating?
We can advice to take the best route, the shortest, the easiest, the flattest, to go slowly with no hurry… but none of this is necessary if you ride an electric bike!! You can reach the work easily with no sweating, doing the exercise you want to as you can adjust your assistance level, an authentic wonder!
